ABOUT

Biography

Cameron is now undertaking his Postgraduate Study at the RNCM, having recently graduated. Some of the highlights of his time at RNCM have been participating in collaborative projects, along with other young musicians studying with his teacher Helen Krizos, which involved various performances of the entire first book of Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier. Last year, they performed all of the Debussy preludes.

Cameron frequently enjoys performing in charity concerts across the Northwest, usually organised by himself and fellow musicians. He recently performed at St. Emmanuel’s, Didsbury and Buxton Methodist Church. He loves to explore works by the great composers such as Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Chopin, Rachmaninov and Debussy.

In addition to having a passion for performing solo piano repertoire, Cameron has a love of chamber music and currently enjoys playing in a piano trio with his friends, Orla McGarrity (violinist) and Nathan Jackson-Turner (cellist); both of whom also study at the RNCM. He has also played orchestral piano with the Todmorden orchestra, most recently playing Stravinsky’s monumental ‘Firebird’ Suite and has also provided organ continuo for the RNCM Sinfonia.

On the rare occurrence that he is not practicing diligently, you may find him walking the mountains. He is lucky enough to have had the pleasure of exploring many of the Highlands of Scotland and the mountains of the Cumbrian Lake District. In July 2017, he was fortunate enough to attend the Verbier Festival in Switzerland for the first time. An unforgettable experience that involved attending performances and masterclasses from some of the greatest musicians of our generation. For him, it highlighted the importance of having a clear vision of what you want to convey through music.

He is also a competent accompanist, regularly performing with instrumentalists and vocalists. Furthermore, he has pursued the Church organ since the age of 13, having studied in the past with David Scott-Thomas. Cameron often provides the music for services at St John the Evangelist’s Church (The Willows) in Kirkham and enjoys playing at wedding ceremonies.

CHAMBER MUSIC

Since starting at the RNCM in September 2018, Cameron has discovered a passion for chamber music.

For him, it is the most enjoyable and fulfilling aspect of being a student at a conservatoire. He has been a part of the Doan Trio with his friends, Orla McGarrity and Nathan Jackson-Turner for three years. They have performed at venues such as Lancaster University and St. Emmanuel’s Didsbury and regularly receive coaching from distinguished Chamber Tutors at the RNCM such as Petr Prause, Donald Grant, Jeremy Young and members of Trio Karénine.

He is also in a Clarinet Trio, the Apricity Trio, with musicians Rebekah Clarke and Grace White. They will be performing in a concert on 24th October 2022 as part of the BCMF Concert Series at St. Mary’s, which will feature the Brahms Clarinet Trio in A minor, op.114.
